Une adaptation très recommandable de l'un des romans de Jack Ketchum (The Girl Next Door, The Woman), avec un anti-héros bien barge et charismatique, comme on les aime.

Sans doute l'un des films les plus flippants de l'histoire et l'un des tous meilleurs Carpenter.
Les effets d'époque sont toujours très convainquants (incroyable boulot de Rob Bottin), "la chose" restant à mon goût la créature la plus abjecte et inquiétante jamais vue au cinéma, et qui semble réellement venue d'un autre monde (exit l'anthropomorphisme d'Alien, par ex).
